MODERN AUTHORING AT THE TOUCH OF A BUTTON
AI-based content generation offers the dual opportunity to optimize processes and diversify content even more finely. For content creators, such solutions are a powerful tool to increase efficiency by automating time-consuming tasks. On the other hand, they enable content to be tailored to better meet users’ needs, providing a more differentiated and targeted user experience.
We use specialized LLMs and other generative technologies optimized for specific application conditions. One of our main priorities is to ensure the quality and reliability of the generated content. Through targeted use of qualitative filters and statistical methods, we optimize the generated content to create maximum added value.
In addition to technological expertise, compliance with legal frameworks, including the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and copyright law, is of central importance to us. By carefully selecting the infrastructure and raw data used, we ensure the legal compliance of our content generation and thus offer a comprehensive and legally compliant solution.
First, we identify specific use cases where automating content production offers clear added value. During this identification phase, we review the underlying business case and define the required quality standards for the content to be generated.
We then develop a customized content pipeline. This goes through extensive testing to ensure that it meets the defined quality criteria. After a successful test phase, the rollout takes place in the production system, enabling efficient and high-quality content creation.
MORE LEARNING SUCCES THROUGH ADAPTIVITY
In traditional classrooms, teachers often do not have enough time to address the individual needs of each student. This limitation means that many students are unable to reach their full potential. Intelligent tutoring systems offer a revolutionary solution here. They are able to coach learners individually and thus effectively support teachers in fulfilling their pedagogical tasks.
Intelligent tutorial systems are designed to individualize and optimize the learning experience. On the one hand, this includes micro-adaptive feedback: if a student makes an incorrect entry, they receive specific, individualized feedback. This feedback not only explains to the student what was wrong, but also guides them towards the correct solution, which often triggers a real “aha” moment.
On the other hand, the learner’s performance level can be measured precisely. On this basis, macro-adaptive tasks can be assigned and individual learning paths can be recommended that specifically address the respective weaknesses of the student and pick them up where they currently are. At the same time, teachers can use the skills dashboard to gain a detailed insight into the performance level of their class and adapt their teaching on this basis.
First, we analyse which components of the ITS can be seamlessly integrated into existing learning platforms or how they complement a learning concept to be digitized. Here, it is always important to pay attention to the cost-benefit ratio in the respective stages of product development.
When working with our partners, it is extremely important to us to check the real benefits of the products developed. On the one hand, this is done on a qualitative level through user tests and surveys. On the other hand, we analyze the usage data of learners on a quantitative level in order to measure the added value of the system. Our aim here is not to replace existing teaching methods, but rather to extend and supplement them in a meaningful way.
FIND TEACHING MATERIAL EFFICIENTLY
Digital educational products require an efficient method of searching and finding the right content to enable successful differentiation in the learning process. The existing task pool is often not used effectively, even by the editorial team. Full-text searches make it difficult to select suitable content, which has to be laboriously and individually checked to find one that matches the level of complexity sought.
In addition, transnational educational projects increasingly require mapping to generic learning objective taxonomies, which cannot be realized with reasonable effort through manual “labeling”.
Our approach to taxonomy-based search involves mapping content to specific skills and determining which procedural skills are trained as a result. Based on this structurally enriched metadata, the content can now be found efficiently not only through a semantic search. It is also possible to identify content that trains precisely the procedural competence that is currently required. This enables teachers to make a precise selection of content and is also the basis for adaptive learning paths in intelligent tutorial systems.
In addition, such mapping to a clear taxonomy offers new possibilities in the combination of print and/or digital materials. For example, scanning a task from a print textbook with a cell phone can immediately suggest a digital task that is suitable in terms of both content and competence requirements. These optimizations in the user experience significantly improve access to existing teaching material, which leads to increased usage.
First, we analyze the existing content, its current formatting and segmentation. Since different formats such as images, HTML, XML, PDF and DSL are frequently used, upstream pre-processing is often necessary. At the same time, we define an individual learning objective taxonomy together with the responsible editorial team or adopt an existing one. We make sure that all learning objectives are mutually exclusive and cover the entire content at the same time. In the final step of the mapping process, we implement an AI-based mapping pipeline that enriches the existing content with metadata. A thorough quality check of the pipeline and the generated metadata is essential to ensure that the base dataset can be used in further steps.
Afterwards, the enriched metadata can be used for individual search indices that are part of learning platforms or applications. This opens up a variety of use cases that make it easier for teachers to find tasks and students to practice in a differentiated way.
Our research team is continuously dedicated to exploring further AI potentials that enable more effective learning. New topics are constantly emerging, which we implement together with our partners – it is our aim to always be at the cutting edge.
If you have not yet found the right area of application for AI in the development of a new product, please do not hesitate to contact us. In a personal meeting, we can find out together whether we have already done any preliminary work in this area of education. We look forward to exploring new avenues in the application of artificial intelligence with you!
We look forward to getting to know you. In an initial meeting, we will check whether the missions of our companies have a common core. For us, this is the basis of a successful partnership.
